Yes could transfer over to 'Photos' but I had already decided not the ideal place to keep them - sorry Apple. So could anyone suggest what are the options available to do such a thing before I purchase a new iMac? It is also very important that my 'metadata' is also preseved too, so is there away of transfering that too without losing the information please? My collection of images runs into thousands by the way.

I understand I could go down the 'Lightroom' route but at a £120 per year is not what I called value for money as I am only an amateur photographer - it is just a hobby! However, I do have latest version of Serif 'Affinity' photo software but trying to get my head around that but will do in time. Hopefully some members see these questions and some good advice comes along. Thank you in advance.įunctionality of Aperture on iOS (High Sierra) Using Lightroom's Aperture, plug-in I've exported about 25,000 photos into Lightrooom after converting my Aperture managed library into an Aperture referenced library in accordance with compatibility requirements for LR's "plug-in for Aperture" to work. The results brought over all photos and much of the metadata associated with each image. I was, however, not pleased because none of my edits in Aperture transferred, leaving me with the original unedited RAW files in LR. So, I've been iteratively exporting groups of Aperture photos (e.g., via projects, folders, and albums) a second time using Aperture's jpg export facility enabling me to retain the edits made in Aperture. This has been a time-consuming, albeit rewarding process.

But doing so burned up my video card! So, my iMac will no longer boot up. Am now confronted with either replacing the (costrly) video card or buying a new computer. Clearly, I would prefer to purchase a new computer, given that my desktop was manufactured in mid-2011. On the surface, this seems to be a no-brainer.
